A cornhole wrap is one of the fastest ways to transform a plain board — but a rushed install is the difference between a wrap that looks pro and one with air bubbles and lifted edges. Here's how to do it right the first time.

What you'll need:

Your cornhole wrap (trimmed to size or ready to trim)
A squeegee with a felt edge (a credit card works in a pinch, but a proper squeegee prevents scratching)
A hairdryer or heat gun (optional, but helpful for tricky spots)
A sharp hobby knife for trimming

Step 1: Clean and prep the board. Wipe the surface down and make sure it's completely dry and free of dust or sawdust. Any debris under the vinyl will show as a bump.

Step 2: Dry-fit the wrap first. Lay the wrap on the board without peeling the backing, and check the alignment on all four sides. This is your only chance to catch a sizing issue before it's stuck down.

Step 3: Peel and stick from one edge. Start at one short edge, peeling back just a few inches of backing at a time. Lay the vinyl down and immediately smooth it outward with the squeegee in overlapping strokes, working from the center of that section toward the edges.

Step 4: Work in small sections. Resist the urge to peel the whole backing off at once — that's the number one cause of bubbles and misalignment. A few inches at a time keeps you in control.

Step 5: Chase out any bubbles immediately. If you see a small bubble, use the squeegee to push it toward the nearest edge before the adhesive fully sets. For a bubble that's already trapped, a pin prick followed by a squeegee pass usually flattens it.

Step 6: Handle the hole cutout carefully. Once the wrap is fully applied, cut an X across the hole opening with your hobby knife, then trim the flaps back and fold them under the lip of the hole for a clean finish.

Step 7: Heat-set the edges. Running a hairdryer over the perimeter for 20–30 seconds softens the vinyl slightly and helps it bond tightly along edges and corners, especially in cooler weather.
