How Big Are Cornhole Boards? Official Size & Distance Guide

If you've ever set up a cornhole game and wondered whether your boards are "regulation," you're not alone — it's one of the most common questions we get. Here's the short answer, plus the details that actually matter for casual and competitive play.

Standard board size: 24 inches wide by 48 inches long. This is the size used by the American Cornhole Association (ACA) and most leagues, and it's what you'll find on nearly every board sold today, including ours.

Hole placement: The hole is 6 inches in diameter, centered 9 inches from the top edge of the board and 12 inches from each side.

Board height: The back of the board (the raised end) should sit 12 inches off the ground, giving the playing surface roughly a 10–11 degree tilt.

Throwing distance: Boards are set up 27 feet apart, measured from the front edge of one board to the front edge of the other. For younger players or backyard games, it's common to shorten this to 18–20 feet — there's no rule against it, just know you're playing a casual variant.

Why this matters when buying a wrap or wraps set: If you're ordering a custom wrap instead of a full board, double-check your board's actual dimensions before ordering. Boards built from online plans or older DIY kits sometimes run slightly off-spec, and a wrap cut for a 24"x48" board won't sit flush on a mismatched surface.
